MA OLD ****** ARE BACK.
It`s kinda weird too cause I just decided to get back onto the dev work too. I`m exceptionally reluctant to open my source code again but I did note down the progress and I`ve completed all the hardest parts, which of all things I actually found was walking and object attributes (monsters, npcs, characters and pets) all of which are now operating.
The reason why I stopped awhile ago is because once I had completed all of the most essential functions, then came the overhaul of the more tedious functions. Each individual function will not compare to the work I had to do for the main ones, infact they won`t take long at all. But was demotivating because there are so many...
Despite the gloom, it actually can`t be as bad as the state of retail EO rn...
It is literally a ghost town no matter the server you join. WHICH MEANS MORE WILLING CLIENTELE TO CONVERT TO THE PSERVER COMMUNITY WITH A SOURCE CODE FOR EO, if I ever manage to control my frustration and get on with it, which I hope to do after I finish this other project.
I`m currently working on a dmap editor and I`ve had breakthrough after breakthrough deciphering the layout and encoding of DMAP, PUL and PUX and now I just have to piece the program together. It`s kind of funny because while I`m pretty experienced working with bytes and all the programming behind the scenes my bigger issues are with the toolbox and using different elements to prepare a windows form for the interface, seeing as I`ve only reallly worked with console applications.
But thats almost finished and once I have completed it then I can use the code in the server for coordinate verification for player positioning, so people cant cheat through the walls and all that. And then I also pick up the perk of having a map editor for future use which is revolutionary even without having the source code yet!
So progress progress progress, I`m back yall
