Thank you all for the support
I'd say just let that debate die it's not worth getting into. I'd say our server speaks for itself but if he prefers something else that's perfectly fine as well. Can't please everyone.
Going to leave the update log in a spoiler here and instead talk about what we are doing with the server in the near-ish future.
We want our server to really shine and for players to understand how much we care about this project in both the short and long term. As part of these changes we are 'attacking' with 4 main approaches.
Approach 1: Streamline/clean up the new game experience. We want new players to feel welcomed to the server and to be able to jump right into content. This includes everything from starting players with a jar quest that gives them basic unique items. Making the FB/SS skillbooks start with level 4 so you can jump right into dueling or hit based pvp events. The guide NPC is another attempt to help out new players. It reads lots of information directly from the source including things like current rates, quest information, event guides and more. Many of these link off to video guides to help playrs out.
Approach 2: Create lasting content for high level players. It's no secret that classic conquer is lacking in terms of stuff for high levels to do. It was pretty much grind to 130 then do guild war... maybe weekly pk tournament and that was about it.
Our recent 1v1 dueling system was designed to be as customizable as possible. This means we can allow things including hit/kill based, limited/unlimited stamina, 1v1, 3v3, 5v5, betting and just for fun.
We already have a significant number of PVP events but we are working towards larger, more engaging events for future patches as well.
Approach 3: Create a consistent, active update schedule. Our current schedule aims for 2-3 content patches a week. Each of these patches should not just contain a list of bugfixes and rate tweaks but also something new for players to look forward to. This includes new events, new garments, new quests or even feature re-writes that positively impact their game experience.
This update schedule will include proper holiday events that are more than just "double drop weekends" or similar things.
For example our July 1st and July 4th events come with custom garments, custom fireworks, custom drop events and 2 quests/events.
Approach 4: Offer consistent, reliable support.
I clearly cannot be here 24/7 but I tend to staff the live support system on our website at LEAST 12 hours a day. We are building up a group of moderators and player helpers to make sure we are able to offer live support as close to 24/7 as possible. This extends to our forums, our wiki (which when finished will document everything about our server and the game in general) and our in game support.
We want players to not only feel like there is someone to listen to their concerns but that action actually gets taken (no, not everyone can be pleased but they should at least feel like they are being considered rather than blown off)
Personally I'd rather offer more insight into what we are doing already and what our aims are rather than engage in pissing contests and stir up more drama
