How to connect Guide by Guardian:

Good morning, afternoon, and goodnight to anyone reading this small, simple guide to make your Phoenix L2 server work!

First of all, you're going to need to get Lineage 2. That can be downloaded at: [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...]

Then once you've got that downloaded, install it. Then after you've installed, double click on the desktop icon it gives you and update it all the way. After it's done, DO NOT hit the start button.

Now once you've done that, go into your C:\Program Files\NCSoft\Lineage 2\system folder and find a file called L2.bin and change it to L2.exe. Also, it would be wise to make a shortcut of this file and replace it on your desktop with the shortcut it gave you. So instead of Lineage II being the shortcut, it's not L2.exe.

After you've completed that, go to C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc folder and find a file called hosts. Open that with notepad, and under the line where it says 127.0.0.1 localhost type in 99.250.243.134 l2authd.lineage2.com and save it.

If you've done all of the above correctly, just double click the new shortcut you've made on your desktop, choose an account name and password, and hit start.

Have fun playing. Enjoy!

~!~UPDATE~!~

Okay, so I have been told about an error that people have been having saying that they get a hacking tool and it closes their game. So a simple solution, go to [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...] and download wilcard.rar under the Lineage II category. Once you have it, extract the files inside to C:\Program Files\NCSoft\Lineage II\system folder... if you did this correctly, it'll ask you to replace the file with the one you're extracting, hit yes.

~!~UPDATE~!~

I've encountered another problem with Vista/Win7 users. The problem is that you can't resave the hosts file after you edited it. Simple solution, run notepad as administrator, then open your hosts file in there, then save it and you should be good.

~!~UPDATE~!~

There was a problem with logging into the server and I have come across a solution as to fixing it. The problem is in your hosts file. If you're getting an error saying "Incorrect username or password" then there is something in your hosts file that shouldn't be there. Your hosts file should look like this:

# Copyright (c) 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

127.0.0.1 localhost
99.250.243.134 l2authd.lineage2.com

And THAT'S IT! Nothing else.
