Work-around for the custom model fix (1.11)

06/22/2006 15:26 locutusofworm#1
Since 1.11 WoW will no longer look in the data folder for model/sound swapping.

The workaround?

1. Open mywarcraftstudio
2. In menu go to: pack -> create mpq archive. Call it whatever you want, doesn't matter
(EDIT: Apparently it must be called the same as an existing mpq, but with a number 0-9 behind it eg. speech2.mpq) edit: patch2 will not work apparently
3. Add your files to swap into the mpq, make sure you enter the right folder location
4. Open WoW

Tested with my swapped fire elemental voidwalker, and it works fine :D

Edit2:Thanks to people who gave me +karma :)

short English-Version:

Works Fine thx ^^

once you create the mpq, go (pack -> edit MPQ archive) and open your new mpq for editing.

To add files go (pack -> Add file to archive). Select the file to be added from your hard drive.

Then add the correct file path to it.

Eg."VoidWalker.m2" becomes "Creature\Voidwalker\VoidWalker.m2"

yes but my path is too long :(

Quote:
"Creature\Voidwalker\VoidWalker.m2"
like

"Item\Shoulder\LShoulder_m"

it stops... because the path is too long

try adding the file with the cut-off name, then rename it using the above download

(remember to edit the listfile to contain the correct filenames too)

I don't understand how the client reads a MPQ file that's named something totally random.

Could you try to be more clear, or use pictures?

Do anybody know how to change the models of the Ghostwolf(Shaman) or the Druid forms?? :?:

WoW doesn't read the file name,s it just reads any file with a .mpq extention.

That would be my guess anyway.

I'll post some pictures when I get home.

A step by step guide on what I did;

Done some testing, apparently the name DOES matter - you have to name it the same as another existing mpq, with a number behind it

eg. speech2.mpq

edit: ach, those images have been resized to oblivion, i'll repost them larger.
edit2: reposted the pictures

4. Pack > add file to archiv
