During E3 in Los Angeles this year, Sony and Microsoft revealed the retail prices for their next-gen consoles: Playstation 4 and Xbox One. There is a price disparity of 100 Euros/Dollars - a reason for Microsoft to act wisely, since they need to retain their newest product and make critics judge in a positive way. Don Mattrick, executive Interactive-Entertainment manager with Microsoft, tried to achieve this in an interview with Bloomberg TV by making use of tech-analyst's forecasts. Said analysts should have mentioned that they were expecting even higher retail prices upon launch date, though nobody knows where Mattrick got these infos. One of the analysts - Michael Pachter - expected that the price would be about 400 Euros/Dollars, just like Playstation 4's price tag.
Another aspect Mattrick mentions is the much higher equivalent customers get for their hard earned money. He thinks that a higher price is pretty normal for a product that has more to offer than another one. "What kind of products do you want to address with this statement?" asks the interviewer. Microsoft's executive Interactive-Entertainment manager answers that any other product besides the Xbox One is less worth its price. He also thinks that customers will love the new feature set of the Xbox when they first boot the system, and will notice that the console is worth even more than its retail price.
What do you think? Is the Xbox One worth its higher price? Let us know.
