Xbox One: Microsoft defends retail price

During E3 in Los Angeles this year, Sony and Microsoft revealed the retail prices for their next-gen consoles: Playstation 4 and Xbox One. There is a price disparity of 100 Euros/Dollars - a reason for Microsoft to act wisely, since they need to retain their newest product and make critics judge in a positive way. Don Mattrick, executive Interactive-Entertainment manager with Microsoft, tried to achieve this in an interview with Bloomberg TV by making use of tech-analyst's forecasts. Said analysts should have mentioned that they were expecting even higher retail prices upon launch date, though nobody knows where Mattrick got these infos. One of the analysts - Michael Pachter - expected that the price would be about 400 Euros/Dollars, just like Playstation 4's price tag.

Another aspect Mattrick mentions is the much higher equivalent customers get for their hard earned money. He thinks that a higher price is pretty normal for a product that has more to offer than another one. "What kind of products do you want to address with this statement?" asks the interviewer. Microsoft's executive Interactive-Entertainment manager answers that any other product besides the Xbox One is less worth its price. He also thinks that customers will love the new feature set of the Xbox when they first boot the system, and will notice that the console is worth even more than its retail price.

What do you think? Is the Xbox One worth its higher price? Let us know.

well u have to consider what you are getting from Xbox One at that price...
obviously the system altogether with 500 GB storage and A Kinect !...which is practically Xbox one is all about, without it the Xbox One experience wont be as exhilarating.

Also i am hoping that they will surely come up with a cheaper version of Xbox one...
lets say, a 250GB storage, no kinect ....for about half the price.
And the same kind of deal as XBOX 360 for XBOX One...buy it for 99$ + 2 year XBL subscription.

no kinect? you have to have kinect connected to be able to play ANY games...
I really dont like the fact you're being watched 24/7 with kinect. i would consider buying a XBONE if we didnt have to have kinect connected :s

Watch out, the govvy is spying on the citizens outside of america 24/7! I'm not sure you know, but you after microsoft changed it's policy regarding X1, you only have to plug your console to the internet only once to download the newest patch that eliminates all kind of DRM and other bullshit.

And with that comes a camera and microphone that is most likely connected to the internet which is always active. Not to mention the XBox crap totally ruins a movie night with the guys since the camera scans the room registers how many people are present and if it is over a fixed number guess what you have to throw even MORE money at microsoft just so you can get a worthless bit of memory wasting license just so you can watch the movie. Plus why the hell would I want to pay for the ability to have a group chat which maxes out at 8-10 people to play a game on multiplayer when I can just either A: Use a PC with the same game and have INFINITE people in my party or B buy a PS3/4 which will let me play online free.

I think I'll keep my money rather than waste it on some casual bullshit rather than buying one saves me having to listen to those idiots who wasted money on it screaming "I got an Xshit 1 am I pro yet?"
