Blacklight Retribution’s closed beta test begins on November 10. To celebrate, Perfect World Entertainment is pleased to provide this third developer diary direct from Zombie Studios.

In this installment, Instruments of War, the developers at Zombie explain the reasoning behind the gadgets and gear players can use in-game – everything from the price of weapons to the wall-negating Hyper Reality Vision are touched upon.

Blacklight Retribution is as much about a quick draw as it is about the right equipment -- for every task, a tool. Not only does Blacklight Retribution feature a vast selection of weapons, weapon modifications, skills and armor to take into each and every match, the combat zones provide their own destructive tools via weapon depots found throughout maps. In this new behind-the-scenes developer diary, the team at Zombie studios explains the concept and history behind a selection of specific weapons and gadgets, and what steps they took to assure a fun and balanced experience.

KEY FEATURES:
  • Mechanical Madness
A devastating tool for utterly demolishing foes, the Hardsuit is equipped with a mini-gun on one arm and a railgun on the other. WARNING: When in-suit, prepare for the entire opposing team to throw absolutely everything they have at finding the Hardsuit's weak point and turning it into a smoldering wreck.
  • Science Fact
While Blacklight Retribution has been influenced by the esteemed Sci-Fi of the day, everything in the game was designed with a sense of real-world plausibility – even railguns and Hardsuits.
  • HRV (Hyper Reality Visor)
Also known as the legalized wall hack, HRV grants every player the ability to see others anywhere on the map for short durations. But, when employed, HRV prevents a competitor from firing, so use it wisely. Not only does HRV ensure the action is always fast and exciting, it also neatly solves the problem of campers.
  • Wreckful Shop
Rocket launchers, flamethrowers, airstrikes and blue-screen-of-death-causing grenades are but a few of the many destructive arms players can wield against the opposition.

Server is pathetic. Hacked couple times, full of bags, LOT OF LAG and poor pvp only in 1 map (DD1)
